Who I Am

Miriam Tello is our new worship leader in the 12:30 pm service and one of the worship leaders for the 9:45 am service.

I still remember when I was a little girl and my mom would work from home as a seamstress every night. She would always have praise and worship songs on the radio. I would fall asleep while listening to that and then wake up the next day with those songs stuck in my head. At the age of 5, I had my first small keyboard where I would dedicate hours and hours trying to play the pre-recorded music melodies included in it.

As years passed, I started learning basic things about music on my own, only with God’s help because my parents didn’t know anything about music then. I didn’t realize that God had a plan for my life in his kingdom. When I turned 14, I was asked to play for the V.B.S. for the kids, and the worship leader saw that I could play, so after that, he invited me to join the worship team. That was the first opportunity I had to be part of a worship band where God used me and gave me grace to be able to play and sing with adult musicians.

After graduating from high-school, I attended a Christian Music Academy. It was there that I met the love of my life, my husband, who is also a great musician who worships God. From then on, I had learned not just keyboard playing but also other instruments, bass-guitar, drum-set, singing as well as furthering my skills in keyboard. I have attended a Community College as a Music Performance Major and presently I am at St. Thomas University trying to finish my Bachelor’s degree as a Percussion Performance Major. Presently, my husband and I are full-time into music ministry as musicians and worship team instructors. I am excited to see where God takes me here at First UMC Pasadena.
